It’s not just Iran and oil raising inflation. Prices also are reaccelerating in these other areas
Los Angeles, California (CNBC) — U.S. consumers are feeling the pinch of inflation, with prices rising in various areas beyond just energy amidst the Iran War. The latest consumer price index data reveals a 3.8% inflation rate, the highest in nearly three years.
Rising Prices Across Various Categories
Shelter costs saw a 0.6% increase in April, while food prices surged, with uncooked ground beef and tomatoes experiencing significant hikes. Additionally, items like window coverings, jewelry, and footwear have all seen price increases, impacting consumers’ budgets.
Areas of Relief Amidst the Inflation
While inflation is prevalent, some areas offer relief. Prices for smartphones have decreased compared to a year ago, and used car prices have remained steady. Men’s outerwear prices have also dropped, providing some respite for consumers.
