Kylian Mbappé denounces Paraguayan senator’s racism after World Cup win
Kylian Mbappé publicly called out a Paraguayan politician Monday after she made racist and dehumanizing comments about the French striker following France’s win.
In a series of social media posts after Paraguay lost to France in a World Cup match, Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla called the 27-year-old forward a “colonized Cameroonian” posing as French. Amarilla also called him a “brute” who “never even learned to write.”
“Instead of breast milk, he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated creatures he ever listened to were chimpanzees,” Amarilla wrote in Spanish.
In response, Mbappé condemned Amarilla’s comments as racist and hateful in a post on X, calling her a “despicable woman” who does not represent Paraguay. Mbappé praised Paraguay’s national team for playing with “passion and honor” throughout the tournament.
