Cold, flu season impact Red Cross blood donations

TOLEDO, Ohio (American Red Cross) — Severe winter weather and flu season have caused over 200 blood drives to be canceled nationwide, resulting in 7,000 units of blood going uncollected. Local shortages are felt in Northwest Ohio, with 12 drives canceled in Toledo in a single day. Maintaining a stable blood supply is crucial during these challenging times to ensure patient care is not impacted.
