San Francisco officials shut down drug, gambling dens in Tenderloin
San Francisco, California (Fox News) — San Francisco officials uncovered secret drug and gambling dens posing as convenience stores in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood. At least nine such dens have been shut down or sued in the past 18 months.
Illegal Activities Uncovered
The stores were engaged in illegal activities such as gambling operations, drug trafficking, possessing firearms, and violating the city’s nighttime safety ordinance. Authorities seized slot machines, cash, drugs, and weapons from the locations.
Efforts to Combat Crime
City Attorney David Chiu praised the Nighttime Safety Ordinance and aims to expand curfews to combat crime in the South of Market neighborhood. Supervisor Matt Dorsey hopes to reduce public drug use and lawlessness in the area.
