Serena Williams is calling it a comeback
Tennis legend Serena Williams is returning to the sport after nearly four years.
The 23-time Singles Grand Slam winner will compete in the women’s doubles draw via a wild card at the HSBC Championships at the Queen’s Club in London this summer.
The annual grass-court tournament, which begins June 8, is played ahead of Wimbledon and is the most prestigious tennis tournament. Williams has not officially confirmed whether she will play at Wimbledon this year, but her participation in the Queen’s Club tournament has sparked anticipation.
Williams, 44, confirmed the news in a statement Monday.
“Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter,” Williams said. “Grass has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my career, and I’m excited to be back competing on one of the sport’s most iconic stages.”
She also alluded to her comeback in a video shared on X on Monday.
