Joe Scarborough isn’t buying Johnson’s ignorance about Maine ICE shooting
Joe Scarborough called House Speaker Mike Johnson a “liar” after he dodged a reporter’s question about Monday’s deadly shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Maine.
During a news conference Tuesday, Johnson was asked about Johan Sebastián Guerrero, a 26-year-old Colombian man who became the second immigrant in a week to be killed by immigration agents, following the shooting of 52-year-old Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Texas. “I don’t know anything about this event,” the speaker told reporters, adding that he was “a little busy yesterday.”
“You guys can mock me for not knowing that,” Johnson continued. “I worked about 22 hours in the last few days.”
On Wednesday’s “Morning Joe,” Scarborough said he didn’t buy Johnson’s attempt to feign ignorance. “I’m not going to mock you for it, Mike. I’m just going to call you a liar, because that’s what you are,” he said. “You know exactly what happened yesterday.”
“You have fathers, husbands, grandfathers being gunned down in Houston. Gunned down in the street for no reason in Biddeford, Maine. And the killers whisked away. No justice, no investigations, no real investigations allowed by local authorities who have seen their city streets being turned into killing zones. And you don’t know about that?” he said.
