The wait is over. Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan’s “expectations” remix — and its full music video — arrived Thursday night, and it’s the pop event of the week.

The video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, throws the two stars into a retro TV universe: dueling game shows including “The Big Expectations Show,” hosted by none other than Talking Heads frontman David Byrne as a character named Johnny Johnson. There’s even a Family Feud-style face-off pitting both singers’ families against each other, and producer Dan Nigro pops in for a cameo.

The collab is a genuine milestone for both artists. It’s Chappell Roan’s first-ever feature on another artist’s song, and Rodrigo’s first official remix. The track was produced by Dan Nigro, the longtime collaborator behind both of their sounds, and Roan brings a brand-new verse that gives the song an explicitly queer spin.

The pairing was a long time coming. Roan opened for Rodrigo on the GUTS World Tour, and the two announced the collab Tuesday with a joint Instagram post — both of them in tutus on a vintage yellow car with an “XPECT8NS” license plate. The original “expectations” comes from Rodrigo’s third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 first-week units, the biggest solo debut of 2026.

For the collectors: limited-edition 7-inch vinyl, CDs and cassettes are up for preorder through both artists’ stores.

Between Rodrigo’s sold-out Unraveled Tour and Roan’s upcoming Los Angeles benefit shows, both stars are running pop music right now — and this collab just raised the bar. Watch the video and pick your game-show winner.
