Yale offers free tuition for families earning under $200,000 annually
NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (Fox News) — Yale University offers free tuition for new undergraduate students from families earning under $200,000 annually, with complete education costs waived for families earning under $100,000.
## Yale’s Affordability Initiative
The change will apply to students starting this fall, expanding benefits to nearly half of American households with children aged 6 to 17. Yale follows similar moves by Harvard, Penn, and MIT in recent years.
## Financial Aid Expansion
Currently, 56% of Yale’s undergraduates receive need-based aid, with 1,000 students qualifying for a tuition-free degree. The average grant exceeds annual tuition costs, with additional financial support for winter clothing, summer experiences, and unexpected hardships.
## Commitment to Accessibility
Yale’s total cost of attendance surpasses $90,000 for undergraduates, but the university’s long-standing commitment to providing scholarship support based on financial need has attracted talented students for over 60 years.
