CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) — State Senator Tom Patton is pushing for a new bill that would require Ohio voters to approve the use of traffic cameras by cities. Patton argues that while he supports traffic safety, receiving tickets in the mail from out-of-state camera companies does not improve road safety. The proposed bill would mandate voter approval for installing new cameras and would also allow existing camera locations to be decided by voters.
