Butler said Brian Hooker gave "unsworn statements" to police, which do not hold the same weight as sworn statements. She explained that the statements can be used as evidence but must be corroborated.
Karli Aylesworth, Lynette Hooker’s daughter, told Fox News Digital that she has been vocal about the need for a full investigation into her mother’s disappearance and that there were "prior issues" between her mother and stepfather.
"It’s been hard. It’s been a tough week. It’s been a lot of ups and downs. It’s been a lot of emotion," she said. "I’ve been the one … I’ve been his wife for 25 years. I’ve been the one that’s been with her for 25 years. I’ve been the one that’s known them for 25 years."
Aylesworth expressed frustration with the lack of information she has received from Bahamian officials about the investigation into her mother’s disappearance.
"I have received no information from anyone in the Bahamas," she said. "I have received no information from any authorities. I have received no information from any entities. I have received nothing."
Butler said Brian Hooker has been cooperating with authorities and has provided them with his passport and other documentation. She said he is not a flight risk.
"He’s a businessman. He has a job. He has a family. He has children. He’s not a flight risk," Butler said. "He’s not going anywhere. He’s cooperating with the police. He’s cooperating with the authorities. He’s cooperating with the FBI. He’s cooperating with the U.S. Embassy. He’s doing everything he can to help them find Lynette."
Butler said she is hopeful that the investigation will provide answers about what happened to Lynette Hooker.
"I hope that the truth comes out," she said. "I hope that we find Lynette. I hope that she’s found safe and sound. I hope that we can bring closure to this case."
