Trump threatens Iran as Democratic lawmakers call for his impeachment
Mitt Romney, R-Utah, condemned Trump’s threats against Iran, calling them "reckless and dangerous."
"It is not the role of the United States to threaten the destruction of an entire civilization," Romney said in a statement. "We must pursue diplomacy and peaceful solutions to resolve conflicts, not escalate tensions and provoke violence."
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, echoed Romney’s sentiments, urging Trump to reconsider his approach to Iran.
"I believe it is imperative that the president engage in meaningful dialogue with Iran to prevent further escalation of violence and instability in the region," Collins said.
As the deadline looms for Iran to comply with Trump’s demands, tensions between the two nations remain high. The international community is closely watching the situation, with many expressing concerns about the potential for a full-scale war breaking out in the region.
It remains to be seen how the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran will unfold, and whether diplomatic efforts can prevent further escalation of hostilities.
