Charli XCX’s voice gave out — and an Arizona arena full of fans paid the price.

The pop star canceled her Wednesday night concert at Glendale’s Desert Diamond Arena after losing her voice while battling an illness that has followed her through the Music, Fashion, Film Tour. She broke the news herself on Instagram on Tuesday.

Despite efforts to find another date, the show could not be rescheduled. Fans who bought tickets will get refunds through their original points of purchase — cold comfort for anyone who flew or drove in for it. Charli apologized to those who made travel arrangements and said she hopes to make it back to Arizona.

The cancellation comes right after two Los Angeles shows, and the timing matters: her next scheduled date is Friday in Las Vegas, expected to close out the U.S. leg. She’s resting her voice ahead of it — and so far, no other cancellations have been announced. Vegas, hold your breath.
