Nearly three decades in, A Perfect Circle just did something they haven’t done since 2003.

“Starless” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart — holding the top spot for two straight weeks (chart weeks dated October 3 and October 10) — the band’s first chart-topper in nearly 23 years. Their only other No. 1 was “Weak And Powerless,” which spent two weeks on top in 2003. The single also became the group’s first-ever Top 10 on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart.

Released May 27, “Starless” was produced by guitarist Billy Howerdel, mixed by Matty Green (U2, Florence + the Machine, TV on the Radio) and features longtime collaborator Josh Freese on drums. The band followed it with a second new 2026 single, “To Whom It May Concern,” and just dropped a video of the live debut of “Starless,” filmed at their sold-out London show this summer.

And the timing couldn’t be better for Midwest fans: A Perfect Circle’s 2027 North American tour stops at Detroit’s Fox Theatre on April 25 (with Puscifer) and Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls on May 20 (with The Cult). The two-month run opens April 13 in Vancouver and closes June 13 in Phoenix, with The Cult supporting from April 27 on. Tickets are available at aperfectcircle.com.
