Noah Wyle Named People’s 2026 Sexiest Man Alive
From County General to the cover of People. Noah Wyle is People’s 2026 Sexiest Man Alive, the magazine announced Tuesday, October 27 — and for millennials who grew up watching him as ER’s Dr. John Carter, the honor feels like a full-circle moment three decades in the making.
Wyle, 55, told People he never saw it coming. “I thought that sounded like a prank — just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me,” he said.
He credited his wife, Sara Wyle, with talking him into accepting the title. “She thinks I’m a good guy and that the kind of person that I am and the kind of father I am, the kind of husband I am, is worth promoting,” Wyle told People. “I thought, ‘Okay, if you say so.'” He added that Sara “was very pleased that this reflects well on her taste.”
Wyle first became a household name as Dr. John Carter on NBC’s ER from 1994 to 2005. Now he stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch on HBO Max’s The Pitt, a role that just earned him back-to-back Emmy wins for lead actor in a drama series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2026. The Pitt returns for Season 3 in January on HBO Max, according to People and Variety.
Wyle succeeds 2025 honoree Jonathan Bailey of Bridgerton, and joins a list of recent winners that includes John Krasinski (2024), Patrick Dempsey (2023), Chris Evans (2022), and Michael B. Jordan (2020). Naming the Sexiest Man Alive has been a People tradition since Mel Gibson took the first title in 1985.
From ER’s earnest young Dr. Carter to The Pitt’s battle-tested Dr. Robby, Wyle has spent 30 years playing the doctor America trusts — and in 2026, that trust finally came with a cover shoot.
