Halloween weekend means hockey weekend in Toledo — on the road. The Toledo Walleye play two divisional games: at the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday night, then at Fort Wayne on Halloween day, Saturday.
This is Toledo’s first meeting with Kalamazoo this season; the Walleye went 5-2-1-0 against the K-Wings last season. Fort Wayne is the second meeting this season, with Toledo looking to improve on its season-opening performance against the division rival.
Who is hot: reigning ECHL MVP defenseman Marcus Crawford, tied for second among ECHL defensemen in assists and points (5). Mitch Lewandowski (1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points) is second on the team in scoring and was named Walleye Player of the Week. Goaltender Jonathan Lemieux (2-0-0-0, .927 save percentage, 2.01 goals-against average) was named Walleye Goaltender of the Week. Tanner Dickinson leads the Walleye in power-play goals so far, with two of the team’s four.
