Perrysburg BBQ Hosts Benefit for Fallen Officer Family
PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Perrysburg Township will host a three-day benefit this weekend for the family of Clay Township Police Sgt. Jacob Roesler, who was killed Oct. 16 in a crash while responding to a call.
The benefit runs Friday, Oct. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 1 during normal business hours at the restaurant on Fremont Pike. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Roesler family.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Steve Mowery, a U.S. Army combat veteran and local sheriff’s deputy, who said he wanted to honor Sgt. Roesler and help his family.
Roesler, 26, died Oct. 16 at the intersection of state routes 51 and 795 in Ottawa County when another vehicle struck his cruiser as he responded to another crash. He had served three years with the Clay Township Police Department and had recently become a sergeant. About 300 people attended his funeral Oct. 22 at the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton.
