The man who spent two decades preaching ownership just lost the rights to his own life story.

A Florida bankruptcy court was told Wednesday that Dame Dash’s life-story rights sold at auction for $550,000 — and the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder won’t see a single dollar of it. Every cent goes to his creditors. (Digital Music News)

Everlasting Films LLC won the October 1 auction with the $550,000 bid for exclusive worldwide rights to tell Dash’s story, plus roughly 100 hours of video content, photographs, memorabilia, and the rights to an unreleased documentary project that was already in development. The bidding opened at just $37,000 — a so-called “stalking horse” floor bid set by Everlasting Films itself — and climbed in $10,000 increments to nearly 15 times the starting price. A backup bidder, Doug Peters, sits behind the deal with a $500,000 offer in case Everlasting Films fails to close. (The Source)

The sale still needs final court approval, with a hearing set for October 27. (Baller Alert)

Dash filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in September 2025, declaring about $25 million in debts against just $4,350 in personal assets. His bankruptcy trustee argued the life rights were a valuable asset Dash had never even listed — and the court agreed they were fair game. (That Grape Juice)

The irony is almost too on the nose: the mogul who built Roc-A-Fella alongside Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke on the gospel of owning your masters, your brand, your narrative — now watches someone else buy the commercial rights to his entire life for what amounts to about two cents on the dollar of what he owes.

And Dash isn’t going quietly into the business pages. He’s launching a new label, Dash Records, and says he’s actively hunting for hungry recording artists, videographers, engineers, producers and stylists.

The Roc-A-Fella movie? If it ever gets made now, they don’t call Dame. They call Everlasting Films.
