Charlie Sheen’s Detroit Show Sold Out in 18 Minutes — Then He Opened With the National Anthem
Charlie Sheen is back on stage, and Detroit could not get enough of him. The actor kicked off a 20-city tour Saturday night fittingly named the “Violent Torpedo of Truth / Death is Not An Option Show” — and his Detroit date sold out in under 18 minutes, according to BG Falcon Media.
The tour rolled through Chicago, Cleveland and Columbus this week too. And Sheen opened his Detroit show like a true American patriot: by singing the National Anthem. Perhaps a tribute to his father, Martin Sheen, who played the President on “The West Wing.”
The noble moment did not last long. The BGSU student paper’s review reports two women came on stage, Twizzlers were consumed professionally, a long movie clip starring Johnny Depp played, and the boos grew as Sheen dodged personal questions during an audience Q&A.
In a move guaranteed to endear him to his next stop, his shows in Chicago and Cleveland this week reportedly began with a poem about why Detroit sucks. Tonight, the self-proclaimed warlock takes on Radio City Music Hall in New York City as the tour rolls on.
Whether you bought a ticket for the comedy or the spectacle, one thing is clear: people are still watching. As Sheen himself put it, “Death is not an option.”
