Turnstile Turned Down Metallica’s Tour Offer — and Hetfield Is Fine With It

James Hetfield just dropped a gem on his SiriusXM radio show Riff Life: Metallica asked Baltimore hardcore wrecking crew Turnstile to open for them on the M72 world tour — and Turnstile said no.
“We have seen them live, we wanted to get them on tour, and they said no. They’re doing good on their own already,” Hetfield said.
And he wasn’t bitter about it — not even a little. The Metallica frontman kept hyping them anyway: “what a vibe they bring. Go see them play if you can.”
He’s not wrong. Turnstile just played a FREE show to an estimated 60,000 people on Washington, D.C.’s National Mall on October 24, and dropped their fourth album Never Enough in June 2025.
Meanwhile, Metallica are deep into their “Life Burns Faster” residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas — running into early 2027 — with 2027 North American stadium dates already announced alongside Limp Bizkit and Avatar.
