On the eve of Election Day, Ohio’s U.S. Senate race has a new leader — at least in the averages. A CNN Poll of Polls average published Nov. 2 gives former Sen. Sherrod Brown a 5-point edge over GOP Sen. Jon Husted, 50% to 45% — a real shift from the dead-heat polling of late last week. (CNN)

That’s a marked change from just days ago, when the race was deadlocked in the final days.

Brown, a Democrat who lost his bid for a fourth Senate term in 2024, moved early to define Husted, the Republican who was appointed to the seat vacated when JD Vance became vice president.

Ohio’s Senate race has seen the second most spending of any race this cycle, with Republicans outspending Democrats about $141 million to $102 million in October, according to AdImpact.

Both sides are sprinting to the finish. President Donald Trump spent the weekend rallying in Florida, Iowa and Kansas and joined telephone rallies for candidates in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Vice President JD Vance rallies at Toledo Express Airport TODAY at 11:30 a.m. — here’s what to know before you go. Brown, meanwhile, campaigned in Toledo last week alongside Amy Acton.

What Toledo voters need to know: Polls are open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Ohio. There is no early voting on Monday. The Lucas County voting center is at 3737 W. Sylvania Ave., Entrance C. (Lake Erie Inquiry)
