A juvenile-court judge has ordered the murder case of one of three teenagers charged in the deadly July 2025 gun-sale shooting in south Toledo transferred to adult court, a major turn in a case that has haunted the city for more than a year.

The transfer order, issued Tuesday, means the teen will now face the full weight of the adult justice system, 13 Action News reported. The case stems from the July 4, 2025 shooting in the 400 block of Baden Street at South Avenue, where a 17-year-old boy and a female passenger were sitting in a car waiting to buy a gun. According to police documents, the group of teenagers allegedly opened fire instead, killing the teen, wounding his passenger, then robbing the car and running, WTOL 11 reported.

The Lucas County coroner ruled the teen’s death a homicide. All three suspects were on probation at the time of the shooting, according to the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office.

Separately, 18-year-old Jose Flores was indicted Oct. 20 by a Lucas County grand jury on one count of aggravated murder with five firearm specifications attached in the same case, the Fostoria Free Press reported, citing WTOL 11. The other two suspects were 13 and 14 at the time of the shooting.

All charges are allegations; the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Related local crime coverage: Jones’ Confession Stays in Kei’Mani Latigue Murder Case.
