Toledo, your Halloween weekend ride is on Ohio.

Starting at 5 p.m. tonight, the Ohio Traffic Safety Office is turning on Project Plan Ahead — free Uber and Lyft credits for anyone whose trip starts or ends in Lucas County (and six other Ohio counties) through 3 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. Each voucher covers up to $15 off a ride, and you just request it when you’re ready to roll — you can’t schedule ahead.

Why it matters: Halloween is one of the deadliest weekends on Ohio roads. Last year, 19 people died in 19 crashes over the five-day Halloween reporting period — 13 of them OVI-related. This is the program’s third activation: over Memorial Day weekend, 2,000 vouchers were claimed and Ohio posted its lowest Memorial Day traffic death toll in 18 years, with zero OVI-related fatalities. Over Labor Day, 5,502 vouchers were claimed and fatalities dropped 55.6% compared to 2025.

The catch: credits are first come, first served while supplies last, and anything over $15 is on you. Rides must originate in or end in one of the seven counties: Lucas (Toledo), Cuyahoga, Franklin, Hamilton, Montgomery, Summit, or Butler.

Get the ride codes and details at Project Plan Ahead’s site (Project Plan Ahead) or the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
