Move over, New York City. Step aside, Miami. Toledo, Ohio just beat them ALL — and San Francisco too — for the biggest home value jump in America. 🏡

A new SmartAsset study, reported by the New York Post on Oct. 14, 2026, found Toledo home values posted the largest annual increase in typical home values among 100 major U.S. cities: up 5.6% between February 2025 and February 2026 — while home values declined in 70% of the cities analyzed.

And the kicker? Toledo’s typical home value stood at just $126,270 in February — making the Glass City one of the most affordable options for buyers anywhere in the country.

Lincoln, Nebraska came in second at 4.1%. New York City and San Francisco each saw gains of about 4%. And Oakland? It posted the steepest decline of all: down 9.1%.

Local brokerage Wiens & Roth Real Estate pointed to tight inventory — roughly 1.5 months of housing supply — and demand from buyers priced out of larger metros. Translation: the secret’s out, and people are coming to Toledo.

Big-city bragging rights. Small-town prices. That’s the Toledo way.
