Time is running out to give back to a local officer who needs it. A Red Cross blood drive held in honor of injured Gibsonburg police officer Maria Kisha runs today (Friday) until 5 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 500 S. Brentwood Drive.

Kisha was injured while responding to a trespassing call on Aug. 26. The department says she is still in recovery.

The drive is hosted through the Gibsonburg Police Department, and the community previously rallied around Kisha with a fundraiser on Sept. 19. To schedule a donation, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code HONOR, or call 1-800-RED CROSS.

Gibsonburg Police Chief Donald Karr previously told 13 Action News: “Just even today, probably 100 people have stopped me just asking how our officers are doing, how we’re doing. Just offering their support and it’s truly appreciated.”

If you can’t make it before 5, regular donations in her name still help — blood centers always need it.
