Here’s your Thursday afternoon briefing — the good news, the weekend plans, and the Hollywood comeback you need to know about, all in one quick read.
300 Toledo kids got new winter coats
Three hundred Toledo kids are heading into winter a lot warmer. Escuela SMART Academy in south Toledo hosted a coat giveaway on Wednesday, Nov. 4, where partners including Susie’s Coats for Kids, the Toledo Zoo, the Knights of Columbus and Metroparks Toledo teamed up to hand out brand-new winter coats to 300 students. It was a big community effort — and a reminder of how much this city shows up for its kids. Families left with coats, smiles, and one less thing to worry about as the cold sets in. Vince Staples brings his Cry Baby Tour to Detroit Saturday
Detroit is the place to be Saturday night. Vince Staples brings his Cry Baby Tour to the Majestic Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., with Duckwrth opening the show. Tickets start at about $33 — a steal for a night like this. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to cross the border for a show, this is it. Read the full story here.
Cameron Diaz is back — and having a very Bad Day
Cameron Diaz is officially back. The first trailer for her Netflix comeback comedy Bad Day dropped today, and it looks like exactly the kind of chaotic fun we’ve missed from her. Diaz stars as a mom whose day goes spectacularly wrong — and the trailer suggests it only gets worse from there. The film premieres Dec. 11. Watch the trailer and read the full story here.
Earlier today: The Toledo Rockets face No. 6 Michigan State tonight in a huge early-season test, with tip-off at 8 p.m. on NBCSN and Peacock. Here’s how to watch.
