Acton, Brown Jump to Early Leads in Ohio Governor, Senate Races
TOLEDO — Early returns in Ohio’s statewide races Tuesday night showed Democrats jumping to commanding leads, with about 40% of the vote counted as of roughly 8:45 p.m.
In the governor’s race, Democrat Amy Acton led Republican Vivek Ramaswamy 59% to 39%, according to the Columbus Dispatch live blog.
In the U.S. Senate special election for the Class III unexpired term, Democrat Sherrod Brown led Republican Jon Husted 56% to 40%.
Democrats were also leading other statewide executive offices and two Ohio Supreme Court seats, the Dispatch reported.
Lucas County’s numbers were not yet included in the early county tallies, so returns skew toward the counties reporting first. All results are early, partial and unofficial until county certification, which has a 21-day deadline.
Nationally, Democrats also won Senate races in Georgia, North Carolina and New Hampshire, according to USA Today.
