100-Year-Old Navy Veteran Takes Dream Flight After Chance Meeting in Henry County Soybean Field
NAPOLEON — Sometimes the best stories in Northwest Ohio come straight out of a soybean field.
A 100-year-old Navy veteran from the Napoleon area is flying high this week after a chance meeting in a Henry County soybean field on Wednesday brought together two veterans of different generations — and ended with a dream flight he’ll never forget.
The Blade reported the story (“Chance encounter leads to memorable flight for 100-year-old Navy veteran”) from its NAPOLEON dateline: one veteran, 100 years young, and a fellow servicemember generations his junior, crossing paths in an ordinary Northwest Ohio field. What followed was a flight the centenarian will be talking about for the rest of his days.
With Veterans Day just around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better. It’s the kind of story that reminds you what this community does best: honoring those who served — and making sure their stories keep flying.
