Gracie Abrams Did Halloween SNL as Juliet — Then Changed Into Romeo for Her New Song
Last night’s SNL Halloween episode belonged to Gracie Abrams — and to Shakespeare’s most famous teenagers.
The 27-year-old singer-songwriter returned as musical guest for the second time Saturday night (her debut was December 2024), and she turned both performances into a full Romeo + Juliet fantasy drawn from Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film — thirty years after it first made the aquarium scene iconic.
Abrams opened with “Hit the Wall,” the lead single from Daughter from Hell, dressed as Claire Danes’ Juliet in the angel costume from the film’s costume-party scene. She began the song standing behind an aquarium, recreating the moment Juliet and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Romeo first see each other through the fish tank.
Then she switched sides. Returning later in the episode as Romeo — Hawaiian shirt and the metallic sleeves of his knight costume — Abrams gave the live debut of “Here You Come, There You Go,” her new single released Thursday.
The performance doubled as a preview of the expanded record. Daughter from Hell (Deluxe) arrives November 20 via Interscope, adding five tracks — “Here You Come, There You Go,” “Lost In It,” “Crazy Girl,” “Love Letter” and “Out of Nowhere” — to take the album from 16 songs to 21.
The original Daughter from Hell, released July 17 and made with longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner of The National, became Abrams’ first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She’s about to take it on the road: The Look At My Life Tour kicks off December 2 in Denver, a 64-date run through North America and Europe.
