On Friday, Nov. 6, at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Benson Boone opened the Australian leg of his Wanted Man tour with a moment no one in the room will forget: he brought 13-year-old fan Kenzie Riddle onstage to sing his breakout hit “Beautiful Things” with him in front of roughly 10,000 people.

Riddle is battling Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, and is in her second round of treatment. Her family had bought the tickets as her 13th birthday present, and her campaign to meet Boone took off online after a local musician shared an Instagram video about her story.

The duet came at the end of Boone’s set, as he introduced “Beautiful Things” — the January 2024 single that reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Boone plays two more Brisbane shows Nov. 7 and 8, then three Melbourne dates at Rod Laver Arena starting Nov. 12.
