He Wasn’t Even There: Charges Dropped Against Man Wrongly Accused in Old West End Festival Shooting
Prosecutors have dropped the case against a man who was initially accused in connection with the June shooting at Toledo’s Old West End Festival, after evidence showed he was nowhere near the scene.
13abc reported on Oct. 30, citing same-day court records, that the case against Eljay Crisp-Carr was dismissed after his defense produced video and cell-phone evidence showing he was blocks away on Glenwood Avenue at the time of the shooting. He is being released from custody.
Ka’Nye Taylor still faces dozens of charges in connection with the shooting. A juvenile has also been charged with bringing a gun to the festival, though not with firing it, according to court records.
The June shooting left 12 people injured, nine of them bystanders.
