Harry Met Sally Again: Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan Reunite 37 Years Later
Some reunions just hit differently — and this one has us reaching for the Katz’s Deli menu and queuing up the rom-com that defined a generation.
On Tuesday night, Meg Ryan, 64, stopped by Billy Crystal’s one-man Broadway show, Billy Crystal 860, at the Imperial Theatre in New York. On Wednesday, November 5, Crystal, 78, shared a photo of the two of them together onstage to Instagram with the caption: “An old friend stopped by the Imperial last night.”
Just like that, Harry and Sally were together again — 37 years after When Harry Met Sally first made us believe in (and argue about) whether men and women can really just be friends.

Crystal’s new show, 860, is a 90-minute autobiographical one-man play about grief, memory, family, and finding humor after the Palisades fires took his home in January 2025. The title is a nod to 860, his former house number. The show runs through February 14, 2027, after being extended from January 3 on ticket demand.
And yes, the timing is everything. When Harry Met Sally, the beloved 1989 rom-com directed by Rob Reiner and written by Nora Ephron, earned five Golden Globe nominations and gave us one of the most quoted scenes in movie history. It also gave millennials — and honestly, everyone who grew up rewinding that VHS — a blueprint for the perfect slow-burn love story.
This week’s Broadway moment isn’t their first reunion, either. In February 2025, Crystal and Ryan revived Harry and Sally for a Hellmann’s Super Bowl ad, recreating the famous Katz’s Deli fake-orgasm scene, and one month later they presented Best Picture together at the 2026 Oscars. Crystal recently revealed he was not director Rob Reiner’s first choice for Harry Burns — which, in hindsight, feels impossible to imagine.
As Entertainment Weekly reported, Ryan was there to support Crystal at the Imperial, and as Parade noted, the new photo is pure 1989 nostalgia.
Fans, naturally, are already dreaming of more. Online, fans are saying When Harry Met Sally could pull off a sequel — and after this week, who are we to argue? If Harry and Sally can find their way back to each other after 37 years, maybe there’s still time for one more dinner at Katz’s.
I’ll have what she’s having — a reunion, please.
