Carson Daly announced on the Today show on Nov. 5 that he is joining Saturday Today alongside Laura Jarrett, starting Nov. 7 — a six-day Today workweek — while keeping his weekday co-host role and continuing to host The Voice.

For millennials, the news is pure nostalgia. Daly was the face of MTV’s Total Request Live, the after-school ritual where a generation rushed home to see the day’s biggest videos and count down the hits. Seeing him add a Saturday morning to his schedule feels like a warm hello from a familiar friend.

Daly kept it light, joking that his kids asked if he will still make pancakes, saying he will now “be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead.”
