Pop royalty just crashed metal royalty’s party — and honestly, it might be the best crossover of the year.

Céline Dion was spotted playing air bass during Metallica’s “Life Burns Faster” residency show at Sphere in Las Vegas on Thursday, November 5, 2026, and fan-filmed footage of the moment is now making the rounds online. Yes, the voice behind “My Heart Will Go On” was in the crowd, locked in and rocking out like she was in the band.

The moment happened during the band’s customary “Kirk and Rob Doodle” instrumental segment, when guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo trade riffs and jam together onstage. In the clip, Dion can be seen happily miming along on an invisible bass, clearly enjoying every note as Hammett and Trujillo do their thing.

Fan-filmed footage of the air-bass moment was shared on Instagram by user @theordacityyy, and it did not take long for the video to spread. It is easy to see why: there is something wonderfully unexpected about one of the biggest pop stars of all time air-jamming at a Metallica show — no stage, no spotlight, just a fan in the crowd having the time of her life.

According to the reported setlist, that night’s show also included “Motown Yo Town” and “Copenhagen,” keeping the residency’s setlists fresh and full of surprises for fans who have followed the run at Sphere.

Metallica’s Life Burns Faster residency launched at Sphere on October 1, bringing the band’s thunderous live show to the Las Vegas venue’s immersive stage. The band wraps the 2026 portion of the residency on Saturday, November 7, with shows resuming in January 2027 — so if Dion’s cameo in the crowd is any indication, the Sphere run is drawing a star-studded audience as well as a loud one.

Whether she was channeling Trujillo or just caught up in the moment, Dion’s air bass has already become one of the residency’s most talked-about fan moments. And if Metallica ever needs a guest bassist for a night, they now know exactly who to call.
