Tonight is one of those nights that reminds you Toledo punches above its weight. Trumpet legend Wayne Bergeron — the kind of player other trumpet players talk about — takes the Valentine Theatre stage with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra at 8 PM, opening the orchestra’s 2026–27 season.

Bergeron has been one of the most in-demand trumpet voices in the world since Maynard Ferguson recruited him into his band in 1986, and tonight he leads the TJO’s big band through a night of high-octane jazz under artistic director Alain Trudel. It’s the first night of the Hartmann•Bogan Financial Planning Jazz Series — and a pretty perfect Saturday-night plan if you still need one.

The show runs 8–10 PM at the Valentine Theatre, 410 Adams St. in downtown Toledo. Tickets are still available at LiveArtsToledo.com or by calling the box office at 419-246-8000.
