Sylvania’s first-ever Franciscan Sustainability Summit takes over the Franciscan Center today — and it’s completely free.

The inaugural Sylvania Franciscan Sustainability Summit runs Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, 6832 Convent Blvd. in Sylvania. Admission is free, and the day is built for the whole family.

More than 50 sustainable vendors, local artists and creators will be on hand, along with educational speakers, hands-on workshops and family activities, according to the Rossford Record Journal. Lunch and snacks will be sold by Olives on Main and Detroit Mini Donut.

One of the day’s biggest draws is the Repair Café — bring a broken item and volunteers will help you fix it for free instead of throwing it away. The summit also offers specialty recycling and drop-off services, plus a dedication ceremony for a new solar project.

Keynote speaker Tish O’Dell will address attendees in the Franciscan Center Theater, per the published speaker schedule from Bowling Green State University.

If you’ve been meaning to get that broken lamp fixed, clear out old electronics, or just see what’s happening in local sustainability, today is the day — and it won’t cost you a thing to walk in.
