COLUMBUS — Both candidates for Ohio governor cast their ballots Tuesday morning in a race that has drawn national attention.

Democrat Amy Acton voted shortly before 10 a.m. at her neighborhood polling place on the campus of Capital University in Bexley. She was greeted by neighbors and supporters, spoke with reporters, then headed to Columbus’ East Side to greet voters. Acton said she feels “joy and hope” heading into Election Day, adding she is “feeling the tide turn” in the race.

Republican Vivek Ramaswamy voted Tuesday morning at Burbank Early Childhood School alongside his wife, stopping to talk with reporters after. “We’re going to fight for you, equally hard,” Ramaswamy said, “regardless of how people vote.”

The polls heading into Election Day have been all over the map: the New York Times/Siena poll showed Acton up 6 points, Rasmussen had her up 4, and the RealClearPolitics average put her at 49.6 to 45.1 — but Echelon Insights showed Ramaswamy ahead 47 to 45. With turnout expected to decide it, both campaigns spent the final hours pushing supporters to the polls.

Polls close at 7:30 p.m. ET.
