Millennials, buckle up — the most infamous nine-sixteenths of a second in pop history is about to get the prestige-docuseries treatment.

Justin Timberlake is reportedly working on a four-part “tell-all” docuseries for Apple TV, expected to premiere in December, according to an exclusive Variety report. The project — directed by Fisher Stevens, who previously helmed Timberlake’s 2021 Apple film Palmer — would revisit the biggest scandals of JT’s career.

The headline-grabber: Janet Jackson is expected to appear in the series to discuss the wardrobe malfunction from their 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime performance, when Timberlake pulled away part of Jackson’s costume at the end of “Rock Your Body” in front of millions of live viewers. The incident ignited a national debate about television indecency — and Jackson, not Timberlake, bore the brunt of the backlash.

Sources also told Variety that Timberlake will address recent comments from his ex, Britney Spears, about him — another chapter millennials will remember all too well.

Here’s the honest caveat: none of this is officially confirmed. Representatives for Timberlake, Jackson, and Apple either declined to comment or didn’t respond to Variety’s requests. Treat the December premiere window as a reported plan, not a done deal.

One thing we know for sure: Jackson has already addressed the incident in her 2022 Lifetime documentary Janet Jackson, where she confirmed she and Timberlake forgave each other and have remained friends. If this docuseries happens, it will be the first time the two sit down to tell that story together, in JT’s own series.
