From Batman to Bond: Robert Pattinson Reportedly Screen-Tested to Be the Next 007
Shaken, not stirred — and reportedly screen-tested. Robert Pattinson, the former Twilight heartthrob who became Batman, has reportedly taken a step toward becoming the next James Bond.
According to NME, The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday night (Nov. 6) that Pattinson, 40, screen-tested for James Bond over the weekend of Oct. 24 in London, where he is currently filming The Batman Part II.
Yes, read that again: Edward Cullen. Bruce Wayne. And now, reportedly, 007. For millennials who grew up watching Pattinson sparkle, brood, and then reinvent himself as the Dark Knight, this is the crossover we did not know we needed — and it is reportedly already in motion.
A Wide-Open Race for 007
Pattinson is reportedly far from the only name in the mix. Other reported contenders include Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O’Connor — plus Nicholas Hoult, who played Lex Luthor in Superman and was reportedly runner-up to Pattinson for the Batman role.
As JustJared reports, Pattinson’s reported test adds a major contender to the 007 race — and a familiar face to the franchise’s most-watched casting search in years.
The Villeneuve Connection
The next Bond film will reportedly be directed by Denis Villeneuve, and Pattinson just worked with him on Dune: Part Three, due in cinemas Dec. 18. That collaboration reportedly “went well,” according to ScreenRant — which certainly does not hurt when the same director is picking the next 007.
The script is by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing. This will be the first Bond film under Amazon’s creative control, after Amazon bought the rights from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson in February 2025.
But a Screen Test Is NOT a Casting
Before anyone starts ordering a tuxedo: a screen test is reportedly not a casting. Amazon MGM reportedly declined to comment, and no decision has been announced.
The official search for the next Bond reportedly began in May 2026, and producers reportedly hope for a casting announcement by the end of 2026. And the race is genuinely unsettled: earlier this week, Bond watchers suggested Callum Turner may already have secured the role after a Bray Studios screen test.
So is it Pattinson? Turner? Someone else entirely? As Batman on Film notes, Pattinson could reportedly do both Batman and Bond — but for now, everything remains reportedly, not officially.
One thing is clear: the man who went from Twilight to The Batman is reportedly now in the conversation for the most famous secret agent on the planet. Stay tuned — this race is far from over.
