Cameron Diaz is back — and she is having a very bad day. Netflix dropped the first trailer for Bad Day on Nov. 5, 2026, and it is pure, gloriously chaotic millennial-nostalgia fuel: our favorite ’90s and 2000s rom-com queen, back on screen, trying to keep one small promise while the universe does everything it can to stop her.

Diaz plays Joy, a single mom who pinky-promised her youngest daughter she’d make it to her soccer game. Simple, right? Wrong. Before kickoff, Joy’s car gets towed, her bank account gets frozen, and — in the kind of misunderstanding only a movie this unhinged could pull off — she’s mistaken for a bank robber. One promise. One very long day. Total mayhem.

Directed by Jake Szymanski (Jury Duty, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) and written by Laura Solon, Bad Day stacks its bench with comedy heavyweights: Ed O’Neill, Ben Schwartz, Danielle Brooks and Rob Corddry join Diaz for the ride. The film is rated PG-13 and runs 1 hour 40 minutes — just long enough for everything that can go wrong to go wrong.

For Diaz, Bad Day is another big step in one of Hollywood’s most welcome comebacks. It’s her second Netflix film since returning after an 11-year hiatus — following Back in Action in 2025 — and her third film since Annie in 2014. And yes, the trailer is set to Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day,” which is either perfect irony or a cruel joke, depending on how Joy’s day is going. Either way, we’re watching.

Bad Day premieres on Netflix December 11, 2026. Clear your calendar, text your group chat, and maybe — just maybe — don’t pinky-promise anything you can’t deliver. Watch the first trailer above and get ready for Diaz to remind us exactly why we missed her.
