Toledo Just Opened a New Hub for Its Nonprofits — and Launched an $11M Campaign to Keep It Free
The Greater Toledo Community Foundation has opened a new hub for the region’s nonprofits — and launched an $11 million campaign to keep it running.
The foundation has opened a 5,000-square-foot Center for Nonprofit Excellence at 300 Madison Avenue in downtown Toledo, according to the OhioMBE Daily Business Brief, which summarized a report first published by The Blade.

The center is built for Northwest Ohio nonprofits, offering a downtown place to meet, work, learn and build stronger organizations — without the price tag that often puts professional training out of reach for small nonprofits.
Beginning in 2027, the center plans to provide free programming in leadership, governance, finance, fundraising, technology, marketing, communications and artificial intelligence.
The space itself includes meeting rooms, workstations and a training room for up to 45 people.
To keep that programming free, the foundation also launched an $11 million campaign to endow the center’s operations. The foundation is also considering future fee-based shared services such as strategic planning, fractional finance support and human resources.
The center is part of the foundation’s 2026–2028 “Stronger Together” strategic plan, shaped by more than 300 conversations with donors, nonprofit partners and community leaders. Aly Sterling, who brings more than 20 years in national nonprofit consulting, was hired to lead the reimagined Center. More detail is available on the foundation’s strategic plan page.
