It took more than 30 years, but Alanis Morissette has finally made a Christmas album — and she did not come to play it safe. Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, her first-ever holiday album, is out today, Friday, November 6, 2026, via Epiphany Music/Virgin Music, and the guest list alone is worth the wait.

The 14-track album pairs Morissette with Brandi Carlile and Steve Martin — yes, Steve Martin, on banjo and vocals — on lead single “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem.” Martin Short turns up on “Merry Christmas,” while Joy Oladokun, Amythyst Kiah, and Trans Voices, the UK’s first professional trans choir, also lend their voices to the record.

For the Jagged Little Pill generation, this is the kind of left turn that somehow makes perfect sense. Morissette built her career on raw, confessional songwriting, and here she brings that same emotional clarity to the season’s most familiar songs — without sanding off what makes her voice unmistakable.

The tracklist mixes holiday standards including “O Holy Night,” “Silent Night,” Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” Joni Mitchell’s “River,” and John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” with two new originals: “Christmas on the Dance Floor” and “To An Empath at Christmas Time.” As SPIN reported when the album was announced, it is a full-length holiday project — not a one-off single — and her first since her last studio album, The Storm Before the Calm (2022).

Consequence notes that the album arrives more than three decades into a career launched by Jagged Little Pill, making a first Christmas record at this stage feel less like a novelty and more like a statement: Morissette is still finding new rooms in her own house.

What’s next? Morissette’s Butterfly With a Machete residency at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, launched November 5, with further shows November 6, 10 and 11. A brand-new holiday album, a stacked guest list, and a residency in the same week? Consider this your cue to put the record on, pour something warm, and let Alanis soundtrack the season.
