TOLEDO, Ohio — Polls closed across Ohio at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the first results are in from tonight’s statewide races — with the Associated Press marking every race “too early to call.”
With roughly 18 percent of precincts reporting, the AP’s live results show former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) leading the special election for U.S. Senate with 558,269 votes to incumbent Sen. Jon Husted’s (R) 275,011. In the race for governor, Democrat Amy Acton leads with 571,387 votes to Republican Vivek Ramaswamy’s 268,156.
Early unofficial tallies reported by the Columbus Dispatch had Brown at about 64 percent to Husted’s 33 percent, and Acton at about 74 percent to Ramaswamy’s 25 percent.
One big caution: early returns often skew as urban counties — typically among the first to report — shape the first batch of numbers. The AP has not called any Ohio race, and results will shift as more counties report tonight. ToledoBuzz will keep updating as the results come in.
