Good Charlotte just did something almost no band does: they brought back an album they deleted.

The expanded edition of “Greetings From California” returned to streaming on Friday, Nov. 6 — now released under the Good Charlotte name, via MDDN/Atlantic. If the title sounds familiar but the band name doesn’t quite line up, that’s the story: the album was originally released in September 2014 as The Madden Brothers, the side project of Joel and Benji Madden. A year later, it was quietly pulled from streaming. It stayed gone for more than a decade.

Now it’s back — and it’s not just a re-upload. The expanded edition adds three new versions: “U R” featuring Ziggy Marley, the band’s first collaboration with Marley; “Jealousy (All Your Friends In Silverlake)” featuring Eyedress; and a live take on “We Are Done” from the Motel Du Cap tour.

“More than 12 years ago we made this album as The Madden Brothers… we realized, this could have been a GC record all along,” the Maddens said.

For collectors, there’s more: a limited 2LP vinyl pressing — 2,000 copies with new cover art — hits indie shops on Record Store Day Black Friday, Nov. 27.

The timing isn’t random. Good Charlotte’s Motel Du Cap tour with Yellowcard opens Sunday, Nov. 8 in Stockholm.
