Man Dies After SUV Slams Into South Toledo Home
TOLEDO, Ohio — A 23-year-old man died early Thursday after his SUV hit a tree and overturned before crashing into the front porch of a home on Byrne Road in south Toledo, Toledo police said.
The crash happened at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, on Byrne Road. Police said Oscar Macuixtle was driving a Toyota SUV and had just crossed the railroad tracks when the SUV collided with a Jeep driven by a woman who had just turned onto Byrne Road from a side street. The impact sent the SUV off the road. It hit a tree, flipped onto its side and struck the front porch of the home.
Macuixtle died at the scene, police said.
The woman driving the Jeep was checked by emergency crews at the scene but did not go to the hospital, police said. Police said the crash did not cause structural damage to the home. Police have not said whether anyone was inside the home at the time.
In an early-morning report, 13abc/WTVG reported that Toledo police believed speeding was involved. The investigation is continuing.
Byrne Road between Detroit Avenue and Heatherdowns Boulevard was initially closed after the crash but has since reopened, police said.
